HAPPY MONDAY! And Happy SPRING BREAK! I am so excited that I am on my break now. I get to relax and be productive in my career for two whole weeks! :) I had an incredible weekend that I am dying to share with y'all.
Saturday night was Kanan Road's Album Release Party for their new record 'Brothers'. Let me just tell you, this record is one of the best I have, and I own a lot of music. Kanan Road is an INCREDIBLE band. I know you have heard me talk about them more, but the two shows they shared with us on Saturday night were mind-blowing. The level of talent in those three boys is through the roof. I cannot say ENOUGH good things about them. They invited me onstage to sing our song together! It has always been referred to as the "secret song" on my website until, well... NOW! Here's a link to the video if you'd like to know what the song is! ;) Be forewarned, I whip my hair back and forth pretty intensely in this performance!

That was the MOST fun I have ever had on stage. There is nothing like singing in front of a live drumset, let me tell you. The beat PULSES through your entire body. I never want to perform without a full band ever again! Haha! :) We did that song at both shows, but I was also lucky enough to get to perform with my guitarist Nathan for the first time at both shows! We did two songs - "Heart Like Mine" and my favorite tune of all time - "Stand By Your Man". The video camera stopped recording during Stand By Your Man, which made me SO MAD, but we are planning to record a special cover of it just for YouTube in the next week or so. :) If you aren't subscribed to my YouTube channel, well... you should be!
The Kanan Road Party was FULL of incredible performers. My good friend Hayley Stayner sang some of her originals and was incredible, LIKE ALWAYS! Please search for her on YouTube. She's unbelievable. The Brewer Boys were so amazing. Their harmonies and stage presence are just perfect! Jim VanNewKirk showed off his incredible songwriting skills and played my favorite of his songs - 'Black Smoke Rising' - which gave me chills! He is always so kind and does such a beautiful job performing.
I met someone new at the show that night. Her name is Brooke Pernice. She is a 16 year old singer-songwriter and she LOVES old country just like I do! She has an amazing song about Waylon Jennings that just about made me cry. She plays the guitar beautifully and has a gorgeous, smooth voice. She has performed with Vince Gill and Darryl Worley. She was also born blind. Brooke and I had an amazing time together, talking about music and things we love. She has a HUGE heart and an enormous talent that is seriously going to take her big places. Being blind does not stop her; it simply allows her to see with her heart, something I truly admire. PLEASE check Brooke out at
www.brookepernice.com and 'Like' her on Facebook. She blew me away Saturday night.
All credit goes to Kanan Road, though, for putting on an amazing show. Like I said at the beginning, this was THEIR night and they rocked on every song they did. PLEASE go check them out at
http://www.kananroadband.com . You will not regret it. ALSO, buy a copy of their new CD please!! You will LOVE IT so much!!!
I am now going to enjoy the rest of my first day of Spring Break by writing the liner notes for my EP! We will be completely finished soon! Ahhhhh! I cannot wait to get this done!
Thank you so much for always letting me express my excitement and gratitude through this weekly blog. I am honestly touched that anyone even takes the time out of their day to hear me rambling on and on about my life. I will do everything I can to make you proud because you come first in my mind and in my heart. I love you, whoever you are that is reading this. I really do.
