About me:
Nametag was raised in Detroit, Michigan, where the hip hop scene is vibrant and full of energy. It was through this environment that Nametag began to develop his skills. His name stands for having your own identity. This is his mark and it lets the people know who he is. The 'Tag part is from a metaphor from how grafitti artists tag their names when putting their artwork on display.

He knew he was headed on the right road when he landed his first official studio recording alongside Black Milk on a track titled “Real Life” on a Slum Village compilation titled Dirty District Vo.l 1 (2002). From that point forward, he started gaining recognition by making guest appearances on releases such as B.R. Gunna’s “Dirty District Vol. 2 (2003), Sound of the City (2005), Broken Wax (2007) Popular Demand (2007), The Set Up (2008) and so on. He began releasing his own projects in 2007. Now with a new era of Michigan hip hop music expanding, Nametag is dead center in its growth and riding the wave to the top of the line.

Nametag’s lead single, “Another Other”, which was produced by Black Milk, is off of his album “The Name Is Tag”. This title is defined as the apex of the hip hop game. The highest you can go where no one can touch you. This single was chosen because of its hard hitting sound with heavy bass along with being radio friendly with catchy verses. As with other songs on this CD, this song takes the listener to the limit of their imagination. It is an announcement that Nametag is here. Check out the official video for "Another Other" on youtube as well.

Nametag’s 2nd single, “Celebrate”, featuring Ro Spit, a recording artist from Michigan and co-owner of Burn Rubber Sneaker Boutique in Royal Oak, Michigan is off of his album “The Name Is Tag”. This single, produced by Black Milk, was chosen because of its hard hitting sound with heavy bass. It was definitely made for the club scene. As with other songs on this album, this song takes the listener to the limit of their imagination. As well as the other album songs, it shows Nametag looks to leave his mark in music period, not just hip hop.

“The Name Is Tag” was released in June, 2010 and is available through iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody Bandcamp, and most digital stores for music.

Previous projects include:

Ahead Of The Basics Mixtape (2007)
Courtesy Of Ambition EP (2008)
Classic Cadence Vol. 1 Mixtape (2008)
Rhyme Royal Mixtape (2008)
Classic Cadence Vol. 2 Mixtape (2009)
Soul System EP (2010
And now his first official LP “The Name Is Tag”.

Nametag has earned numerous mentions in XXL Magazine, Detroit Free Press, Metro Times, Real Detroit Weekly. He was nominated for 2010’s Detroit People’s Choice Music Awards for Best New Artist and Mixtape Of The Year for Classic Cadence Vol. 2.

Venturing into the marketing arena, Nametag also has custom sneakers courtesy of Pro Keds which can be purchased from the online store at www.itsnametag.com along with other Nametag merchandise.

Nametag is a one man dynamo. He writes, records, arranges and performs his own music along with marketing items that sells his namesake.
